Classic Meatloaf: A Comfort Food Staple
Meatloaf, a quintessential American comfort food, combines ground meat with a blend of spices, breadcrumbs, and a tangy ketchup glaze. It's a versatile dish that's both easy to make and satisfying.
Ingredients:
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 onion, chopped
- 1 cup milk
- 1 cup dried bread crumbs
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons mustard
- 1/3 cup ketchup
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, onion, milk, and bread crumbs. Season with salt and pepper.
- Place the mixture into a lightly greased loaf pan, or form it into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
- In a separate small bowl, combine the brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup. Mix well and pour over the meatloaf.
- Bake for 1 hour or until thoroughly cooked. Let it rest before slicing.
