Classic Meatloaf: A Comfort Food Staple

Meatloaf, a quintessential American comfort food, combines ground meat with a blend of spices, breadcrumbs, and a tangy ketchup glaze. It's a versatile dish that's both easy to make and satisfying.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ pounds ground beef
  • 1 egg
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup dried bread crumbs
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons mustard
  • 1/3 cup ketchup

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, egg, onion, milk, and bread crumbs. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Place the mixture into a lightly greased loaf pan, or form it into a loaf and place it in a baking dish.
  4. In a separate small bowl, combine the brown sugar, mustard, and ketchup. Mix well and pour over the meatloaf.
  5. Bake for 1 hour or until thoroughly cooked. Let it rest before slicing.
